The relaxation response is in contrast with the fight or flight response. In this state brain doesn’t perceive of threat. During this response the body moves from a state of physiological arousal, including increased release of hormones like adrenalin and cortisol, increased heart rate and blood pressure, slowed digestive functioning, decreased blood flow to the extremities and other responses preparing the body to fight or run, to a state of physiological relaxation, where release endomorphin hormone and blood pressure, heart rate, and digestive functioning return to their normal state.
